The President, Dr John Pombe Magufuli, on Wednesday 18 April 2018 has appointed with immediate effect Professor Idris Suleiman Kikula, a former vice chancellor of a state university, as Chairman of the new Mining Commission and also named 8 Commissioners to serve under him, to regulate and monitor the mining industry and mining operations in Tanzania (see announcement, letter of appointment and Reuters Article).
